Converse CTAS 70's Hi Renew Denim Shoes

As part of Converse’s Renew project which looks to reduce environmental impact by making use of waste materials these Converse CTAS 70s Hi Renew Denim Shoes have cotton denim uppers cut from vintage jeans sourced in partnership with Beyond Retro UK. For the inner side panels and tongue light wash denim has been selected whilst the outer panel is dark denim and contrasting white top stitching runs across the surface. Silver metal eyelets secure the lace up fastening and two more on the inner side allow for ventilation while a screen printed circular Converse All Star Patch has been added in the usual position on the ankle. Throughout the inside a fabric lining has been added for comfort alongside a padded insole. The white rubber outsole is higher than conventional Converse styles and is made from recycled rubber so a subtle speckled effect can be seen on the toe cap and sole with an additional textured panel around the toes and the brands signature tread design underfoot. On the back of the heel a monochrome Converse All Star Chuck Taylor Renew patch has been added.

Encouraging us to think about how we use and discard materials Converse have teamed up with UK based vintage store Beyond Retro as part of their latest capsule for the Renew project. Following on from their debut models which used fabric made from recycled plastic bottles, the denim line uses vintage jeans that have been worn and aged in different ways to create the uppers which of course due to the lifestyle of the original jean wearer means that no two pairs will be the same.
